5 Detailing Tips from a Pro

Posted Feb 3rd, 2017 in Cars, News

As a car enthusiast, it’s an unwritten rule that the car is an extension of its owner. A clean, shiny car will bring a far better impression than one covered in dirt filled with every item the owner has ever bought. But what’s the best way to get the very most out of your car’s potential? How can it look as good as possible all year round? It’s not enough to just wash and vacuum it occasionally, and most brushes actually leave miniscule scratches in the precious paintwork. We spoke to professional detailer Andrew Hope from Aurora Auto Spa for 5 helpful tips on taking the best care of your ride:

1 : Washing your vehicle’s exterior thoroughly at least once a week prevents sun and road oxidation building up on the clear coat/paint of your vehicle.

2 : Exterior Wax is mandatory to do at least once a year. We as professionals always recommend waxing your vehicle twice a year. Having an exterior hard shell wax applied to the paint of your vehicle keeps the elements and road oxidation from building up over time.

3 : Interior Detailing is recommended at least once a month. Dust particles build up in the ventilation system of your vehicle. Once the ventilation system is turned on this will blow inside the particles inside the vehicle.

4 : Interior Steam Cleaning is needed twice a year. Bacteria and dust particles build up inside your vehicle’s carpets and upholstery. Steam cleaning your vehicles sanitizes the inside of your vehicle eliminating any bacteria/dust particles that are built up in the fibres of the carpets and upholstery.

5 : A lot of you may notice brake dust built up on your rims. Being OEM or aftermarket rims it’s necessary to remove all brake dust from your vehicle’s wheels at least once a week. If the rims are neglected for long periods of time the rims will start to corrode and rust. Therefore, they will be permanently damaged resulting in needing to be replaced.

Hopefully these tips will help keep your ride looking its best for years to come.
